The best photographer in Lincoln.

It’s always lovely when you receive glowing testimonials from people that you have worked with. And some of those people are even kind enough to mention your name to others who may be looking for a photographer to hire. 

But while it’s nice to have people tell you they think you are the best photographer in Lincoln, I’ve got something honest to share with you. I might not be the best photographer for you or your organisation. 

Whilst I’m incredibly proud of the photography I produce for my clients, and I’ve seen the results in how my images have helped them achieve their sales and marketing goals, it doesn’t mean a good photographer is a master in every area of photography specialism. 

The first thing people think of when they discover I’m a photographer (you’d think a 6ft 3in bloke with a camera was a clue!) is wedding photography. And people tell me these tales of wonderful wedding photographs. Which I’m sure is lovely and helps capture a couple's special day. But I’m not a wedding photographer. I don’t enjoy photographing weddings. I pass all wedding photography enquiries on to a trusted contact. Someone who I consider a brilliant wedding photographer and who would do a much better job than me. 

As a specialist commercial photographer, you turn your hand to quite a few genres within this broader category. While most of my commercial photography is based around my clients' workplace - photographing the people that make the business tick, be it the board room or the shop floor, I often get asked about product photography. 

I regularly shoot products as part of my work and have a small studio curve that allows me to shoot smaller objects on a seamless white background. However, if you are looking for a catalogue of product shots, I may not be the right photographer for you. But guess what, I would happily introduce you to the right person for that job!

The point I’m trying to demonstrate goes back to the age-old phrase, jack of all trades, master of none. I was very conscious when redesigning my website and listing my work areas to make a clear distinction between business and commercial photography, business profile pictures, corporate events and drone photography. To me, they all come under commercial photography but have their own unique positioning.

I’ve previously chaired a networking meeting, including supporting members throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. My philosophy, and still is for business life, is collaboration is key. It worked. It still does.
