Building a Powerful Image Library for Lancereal’s Website Redesign.

When Lancereal, a powertrain solutions provider and systems integrator, based in Huddersfield, decided to redesign their website, they knew that photography would play a key role. Stock images weren’t going to cut it. They wanted visuals that truly represented their people, their environment, and the quality of work they deliver.

That’s where I came in. As a trusted commercial photographer, I was commissioned to create a library of bespoke images that would not only bring their website to life but also provide versatile content for their wider marketing campaigns.

Understanding the Brief

The aim was clear: produce a broad selection of images in one day that could be used across multiple channels, from web pages and social media posts to printed materials and internal communications. Before the shoot, we discussed the specific look and feel they wanted. Authenticity was at the heart of it, so the imagery had to reflect their people in a natural, approachable way.

The Day of the Shoot

I spent a full day at Lancereal’s head office in Huddersfield, capturing everything from professional headshots to candid shots of the team at work, as well as aerial images with a drone to capture the stunning building they are based in. We also created a set of environmental portraits and images that showcased their workspace.

One of the things joint-managing director Rob Yorke, their representative in the video below, highlighted was my on-site image review process. During colleague profile picture sessions, I always let people review their images immediately via an iPad. This gives them the chance to select favourites, request retakes, and feel confident in the final result.

It’s a simple touch, but it makes the experience far more comfortable and collaborative, a big part of my values as a photographer.

The End Result

By the end of the day, Lancereal had a complete bank of images they could use instantly. From professional headshots for their leadership profiles to action shots for marketing campaigns, the photography provided them with flexibility and long-term value.

Rob described the outcome as a genuine reflection of their business, avoiding the pitfalls of generic stock photography. This is exactly why I believe photography is a vital part of any marketing plan. To me, it’s about telling the right story in a way that builds trust and engagement.

The full transcript from the video.

Hi, I'm Rob Yorke, I'm a managing director at a company called Lancereal Limited. We're based in Huddersfield. We're a system integrator, so we bring transmission components, gearboxes, motors together, to find solutions for customers problems ultimately.

So if you, if anyone needs a vehicle being converted from hydraulic or diesel engine vehicles into bring them into the electrification side of things, then obviously we can help.

So working at Lancereal in this industry, it's great! There's so many different, sectors and diverse applications that they're involved with. So day to day something's different, working with the engineering team and the sales teams to understand what the challenge is, how we find the solution and get you the best product, best solution to suit your needs.

At Lancereal, we realised that we needed, a refresh on our marketing. We had a website had been going on for many years, but it didn't really, represent who we are as a system integrator. So we, we realised that we needed some more photography. We need to rebrand ourselves and show

a bit more about what we could do. We went out and started talking to different photography providers. Chris, you were one of them. Obviously, we had a conversation on the phone and yeah, you just came across very friendly, very forthcoming with your thoughts and ideas.

We liked the informal, not informal, way of working and just thought that you really understood our brief and what we wanted to achieve. I mean obviously we wanted someone corporate that worked with businesses before and understood what type of photos and what we wanted to portray. Now, we found a few people that did that. But ultimately, I think having a someone that really understood that we don't like posing for photos, and we like to just have it very natural and really try and show what we do, was a big part of that. And I think, Chris, your approach of just being very relaxed was, was really welcome.

So the day of the shoot, everyone was a little bit apprehensive, I suppose at first, not knowing, you know, no one was really used to having the photos taken. It's not normal for any of us. So everyone had the haircuts and things, but other than that, it was just coming in, not really knowing what to expect. But again, just like before, Chris, you were just very relaxed. You allowed people to take the lead a little bit with how the head shots specifically were taken. You asked us questions on what we wanted to show you asked us to, and on what's important and what needs to be shown and what cannot be shown. So it was really useful just for you to understand that at the beginning and then really direct us as well through the photos. I think everyone actually really, excels through the photoshoot.

Ultimately, I think everyone realised that once they got into it and got a little bit more relaxed, I think everyone really enjoyed themselves. And I think, yeah, that's a testament to you making that environment, I suppose while taking photos.

One thing that I suppose, that stood out a little bit on how you worked, Chris. I think when you were doing the photos of headshots, it was great to have your little tablet next to it so you could quickly then everyone that had the photo taken then could quickly go to the tablet, have a flick through the ones they liked, and give some feedback initially. Or say, I want to try it again, so it was really good that that was there. Rather than taking the photos, waiting for some very time and just getting a dump of the photos.

I think on the whole, we've had a lot of positive feedback from our marketing in general. Obviously of that, the majority of those have some element of the photography that Chris has done for us. So yeah, it presents the right message to our customers and our suppliers. It shows, a better representation of what we do.

I'd recommend using Chris for his photography services. It's great. It's it's very relaxed environment. Put you at ease. Put anyone your taking a photo (of) at ease. But also then had extra things like the screen where you can vet your images first. He got the drone up outside as well, which was great. And and took some photos building. So it covered a lot of different areas. And yeah, it gave us a great service. So yeah., I’d highly recommend him.
