“NW Counselling hub, are a third sector mental health and counselling organisation.
We were founded in 2017, so we're in our eighth year of operation. We make counselling and mental health support as accessible to as many people as possible by removing barriers to accessing support.
We will help and support whoever we can, so we pride ourselves on doing what we can, not to turn anybody away from our support. So we work with people on a one to one basis. We also work with couples and families. Anybody from the age of four upwards. We also have group therapy, to produce different groups which suit different people, for example, encompassing nature and exercise into a group therapy setting whilst giving people the opportunity to speak about how they're feeling if they wish to.
I learned about Chris and his photography service through, a conference that I attended. It was the Lincolnshire Voluntary Engagement Team conference. And, Chris gave a talk about, photography and giving different tips and ideas, and I found it really interesting.
And we were then looking for somebody to come and work with us to take some photos of our hub to help with the redesign of our website and our leaflets. I then happened to mention what I was doing, in a meeting with some of our team, one of whom mentioned that they actually knew of Chris through some other work. So it was a no brainer for us to go with Chris.
It was probably the reputational side of what I'd learned about Chris. Because if you were attending the LVET conference, that says quite a lot of positive things. And also because one of our other directors also knew about Chris, it made sense to go with somebody that we knew would then have that positive reputation.
On the day, everything went very smoothly. Everyone felt very comfortable. Nothing was too much of an issue. We had some criteria that we needed to meet being a counselling, and mental health organisation. We needed to make sure that there were certain things that we avoided, certain things that we did want to include within our images. And none of that was too much bother.
What stood out for me working with Chris during the shoot is that everything was smooth. Everyone felt very comfortable. He gave some ideas, which was really helpful because this is not my bag at all. And I was able to leave Chris to work alone without needing guidance at times, which was really useful. And work on his own ideas of what would be good to look at within our images in the hub.
If you are looking for somebody who is easy to work with relatively laid back, but also manages to get everything done in an efficient way, then he is the person that you need to speak to.
