Demystifying Commercial Photography Costs: A Guide for Marketing Managers and Design Agencies.

How Much Does Commercial Photography Cost?

When choosing a photographer for a commercial photography shoot, there are several factors marketing managers and design agencies need to consider.

These often include:

  • The quality and style of a photographer’s portfolio

  • Whether the photographer has experience working within your sector

  • How comfortable they are working alongside your team, particularly if people are apprehensive about being photographed

  • And how well recommended the photographer is, so you can trust them with an important shoot

For many organisations, especially those planning ahead or working to an annual budget, one of the most important considerations is cost.

As a trusted commercial photographer in Lincoln, this is a question I’m asked regularly. And understandably so.

Why pricing can feel unclear

In the UK, we’re not always great at openly discussing money. As a result, pricing information for commercial photography can often feel vague or hard to pin down.

That lack of clarity doesn’t help marketing managers or agencies who need to:

  • Plan budgets for the year ahead

  • Compare suppliers fairly

  • Understand what level of service fits their project

While it’s not possible to give an exact price for every shoot without understanding the brief, it is possible to give clear guidance. The aim of this post is to provide realistic, transparent ballpark figures so you can budget with confidence.

If you’re planning a shoot and would like a tailored proposal, an initial conversation is always the best place to start.

How our commercial photography pricing works

To keep things simple and flexible, pricing is based primarily on time spent on site.

Several years ago, I introduced a small number of clear photography packages. These are designed to suit the majority of commercial, PR, and marketing briefs while still allowing flexibility where needed.

Commercial photography packages

Essentials PR & Marketing Photography

Up to one hour on site - £175 + VAT

This package is ideal for:

  • PR photography

  • Small marketing shoots

  • A limited number of colleague profile pictures

  • Standalone drone photography

It’s a popular choice when you need professional imagery quickly and efficiently.

Extended PR & Marketing Photography

Up to four hours on site - £350 + VAT

A strong option for:

  • Marketing and communications teams

  • Public sector organisations

  • Construction and infrastructure projects

  • Businesses needing a broader range of images

Four hours allows time to capture people, processes, and environments without rushing the shoot.

Complete Photography Package

Up to eight hours on site - £625 + VAT

Best suited to:

  • Full-day commercial shoots

  • Events and conferences

  • Construction progress photography

  • Multi-location projects

This package offers maximum flexibility and is ideal when a project needs more time and coverage.

Drone photography and video

Drone photography is included within the packages above, where appropriate.

Most standalone drone shoots fit naturally into the Essentials (one-hour) package, making it a simple and cost-effective option.

Drone services are commonly used for:

  • Construction and development sites

  • Property and estates

  • Infrastructure and energy projects

  • Tourism and place-based marketing

If you’re searching for a drone photographer in Lincoln, this approach keeps things straightforward while ensuring every shoot is carefully planned and professionally delivered.

Video pricing

While photography is the core service, video can be added where it supports your wider marketing and communications.

Short talking-head videos - £500 + VAT

Typically used for:

  • Website content

  • Social media

  • Interviews or announcements

Corporate videos (2–3 minutes) - £1,750 + VAT

Designed for:

  • Corporate communications

  • Promotional use

  • Recruitment and employer messaging

These projects involve more filming and editing time and are planned carefully to ensure the final video reflects your organisation clearly and professionally.

Why prices can vary

The package prices above provide a clear starting point, but some projects include additional considerations.

For example:

  • Travel outside Lincolnshire or early start times

  • Multi-day shoots requiring overnight stays

  • Specialist equipment or bespoke backgrounds

  • Additional crew members, models, or actors

Rather than increasing prices across the board “just in case”, projects are priced fairly based on what’s actually required. This ensures clients who don’t need anything extra aren’t subsidising those who do.

A focus on value, not just cost

Commercial photography should deliver long-term value. The images created are often used repeatedly across marketing, PR, recruitment, and internal communications.

A helpful comparison is something many people relate to:
A football shirt might cost £110–£125 and be worn for a single season. Professional photography, by contrast, continues working for your organisation long after the shoot day itself.

That’s why the focus is always on creating imagery that supports real business outcomes. Not just filling a gallery.

Is this the right fit for your project?

If you’re looking for a recommended commercial photographer in Lincoln who understands how organisations work, helps people feel at ease, and delivers reliable, professional results, a short conversation is usually the best first step.

Clear pricing, careful planning, and a collaborative approach help ensure the photography works for you long after the shoot is complete.
